Things-to-do

THINGS TO DO

Excursions / Interests

Canterbury & Kent

Goodnestone Manor is only 20 minutes from the historic city and UNESCO World Heritage site of Canterbury. This medieval city, with its wide range of shops and cafes, really is worth a visit. Guests can enjoy a tour of stunning cathedral and grounds or enjoy a boat tour along the River Stour. Kent has plenty to offer: located at close proximity to the coast there are a number of beautiful beaches to visit on a sunny day near Goodnestone. Visit Whitstable, a traditional seaside town whose Oyster Festival is a nationally famous event. For a sandy alternative, Broadstairs is home to some of Kent’s most popular beaches and was visited by Charles Dickens, some of whose characters in Bleak House and David Copperfield were inspired by Broadstairs.

Golf Excursions

A golf excursion can be organised for guests at Goodnestone Manor to one of Kent’s numerous courses. Notably, there are a number of links courses nearby, such as the Royal St George’s Golf Club in Sandwich, a mere 15 minute journey from Goodnestone Manor. The Royal St George’s Club has hosted both amateur and professional tournaments since the 1880s and will soon hold The Open Championship for the 15th time. It is one of England’s best known links courses, with fairways and greens that present a challenge for both amateurs and professionals.

Balloon & Helicopter Flights

Goodnestone Manor can arrange for guests to go on helicopter or hot air balloon flights during their stay at the estate. The helicopter flight package is one that includes transfers to and from Manston Heliport, from which guests can enjoy a 1 hour long flight over the spectacular Kentish countryside and coastline. There really is no better way to enjoy panoramic views of the county than in your own private executive helicopter. Guests can also enjoy a hot air balloon flight, an hour long experience in a package that includes transfers to and from the launch site. There are 7 different launch sites in Kent. The choice of the launch site is based on the forecast wind direction for the flight period.
