Though the Hall and Gardens today may strike a classic and
historic pose, there’s a wealth of hidden history here, for the
Somerleyton estate has been home to powerful figures going back
almost 900 years. Now run by the Crossley family, Somerleyton Hall
has added a modern, family feel to the estate, whilst maintaining
historical prominence. Somerleyton Hall is now encased
in John Thomas (Prince Albert’s star sculptor), who worked
extensively on the houses of Parliament reinterpretation of the
Italianate style two towers.

The Somerleyton gardens are considered as one of the finest in East Anglia since the mid-17th century. Set over 12 acres, the garden is slowly being re-imagined as a series of interconnected 'rooms. The centrepiece is the Nestfield Parterre to the west of the hall, restored in 2012/4 by Norfolk's finest landscape architect and Historian George Carter. The gardens also include the white and walled gardens, the arboretum and the Somerleyton maze, planted back in 1846.
Inside the house owes its dimensions and floor plan to the earlier house with four enfilade rooms running along the west side of the house, a grand staircase hall, a vestibule, ballroom and winter garden. There is a contrast of styles from high Victorian splendour in the chintz ballroom to the dark Jacobean Oak Parlour and the charming library with beautiful bookcases Wilcox of Warwick in the 1920's.
Somerleyton Hall offers a different experience in eachof its dining areas, including, a sumptuous candlelit ballroom to the summery splendour of the old palm house, the intimacy of the family dining room to the full length and fabulous Winter Garden.
Somerleyton has twelve charming bedrooms set over two floors, ten of which are en-suite. There is also an additional apartment in the stable yard for extra guests or staff. The old servant bells gives each room a name which adds to the halls warmth and character.
There are 7 double bedroom and 3 twin ensuite bathrooms. The other two bedrooms share 1 bathroom.
